Hi everyone. I haven't been on in such a long time. This has been a very bad year for us. Sean had his surgery last May and did great. After his surgery, I became very sick and was diagnosed with MS. So the past 6 months have been terrible. I am so glad to be back. You guys helped us so much get through the first surgery. So I just get a call from Sean's surgeon saying that he needs to have surgery again. His post op MRI at 12 weeks was great. Now 6 months later, he is back to where he was at the beginning. His surgeon wants to see us right away and that he will probably need the same procedure again and he might have scar tissue. I dont know what to do. We are devastated. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thank you so much.
Hi Chiari Mom,
We have many Members that has had to have multiple surgeries. How old was your son when he had his first surgery? What surgeries did he have done? Did they open the Dura? I will go back and read your previous posts and see if I can get some additional information.
Tracy Z.
He was 5 when he had his surgery. May 29th last year. He was doing great. He had posterior decompression, duraplasty and c1 laminectomy. His 12 week MRI was great. Over the past month or so I have noticed more fatigue, irritability and the breathing thing coming back. Like he always has to take deep breaths etc. So the surgeon said he has to do surgery again. Probably the same procedure and there could be scar tissue that developed. But what is to say the scar tissue wont develop again. Fusion is the last resort. He is so young. Thank you so much for getting back to me.
