Recommendations for neurologists/neurosurgeons in so cal

Hi everyone…

Well, saw my neurosurgeon today… Having leg weakness, tingling and numbness and some lower back pain and rt hip pain (not always at the same time) off and on (seems more frequently than not)… These are new symptoms on top of my other symptoms of chronic head pressure, headache, upper back pain, chest pains, dizzyness, nausea, etc. Still deciding on surgery but wanted to get symptoms checked. Ns never seems to care about the symptoms other than the headache… Makes me feel like all my other symptoms are irrelevant and totally unrelated to the chiari… I’m wondering if his attitude is just cause he’s a ns not an nl? He did order a l-spine MRI after my insistence of it. My last MRI of c-spine it was recommended to have the l-spine to check for tethered cord by the radiologist.

Note: he will not help me with my symptoms now, other than surgery and only takes care of me thru recovery, upon being released after my recovery period of a month, he will not treat any residual symptoms. Side note: i will be having my L-spine MRI in a month and then trying to get second opinion from another ns or nl.

Any recommendations, words of wisdom, or advise welcome… Thanks

In Norther California I have been quite happy with the surgeons at Stanford. I saw Dr. Chang, and he was very responsive and helpful. That said, you probably want someone closer to home, and someone a bit more open to helping you with follow up symptoms.

Thank you to you both for the response…
