Problems with change in elevation

Tomorrow is my mom's birthday so we went and had a picnic in the mountains. I live at 2200 ft. elevation and the picnic spot is about 6000 ft. I could feel the pressure building and building on the drive there. I put on a smile and tried to pretend that everything was great. I finally had to go lay down in the car because my head was so full of pressure and I got a horrible headache.

Just wondering if anyone else has problems with change in elevation????

Years ago I had a similair reaction when we took a drive up the auto road on Mt.Washington. Although I haven't taken a plane ride in a while I'm also a mess when I've taken a flight. It would take me 2 days to recover once I arrived somewhere.

I never thought about this, but it makes sense.

I live at 4500 feet and over Memorial weekend we went camping up in the mountains in CO. When we hit 10,500 feet in the truck I had a ice pick stabbing pain in the back of my head. It seemed to be right where the screw is for the titanium plate in there. The pain subsided in about 5 minutes. I think it was related to the pressure changes.

I did have a HA while we were camping but I’m not going to let they keep me from being with my family and dong stuff I love.
