I had surgery last week and since then have been having terrible head and neck spasms that are really painful. Is this normal after surgery? I am in a lot of discomfort and pain. What is the common recovery time?
Kristin, every person is so different with post op symptoms and recovery. One week out is sooooo new, though. Are taking any valium or muscle relaxers? OTC magnesium supplement can help with muscle issues too. Sorry you are having these issues. Hang in there, I definitely don’t think what you are going through is abnormal. I hope it eases up soon.

Thank you so much. I ended up calling my doctor today because its been such a bad day. He said all of my symptoms are very normal. Its just not a fun recovery!!
I am definitely going to be getting some Valium! He increased my pain medicine but has made me really sick today. It is good to know there is light at the end of the tunnel!
Kristin the pain meds made me so sick- I can’t take opiates. I had to stop all opiates and take only valium, or flexiril, and fioricet (pain). It will get better this just sucks!!!
