Pain

Anyone with chiari one have really bad spinal pain??? I mean right on the spine feels like its gonna snap in half! Neurosurgeon says it has nothing to do with my chiari…

Yes, thoracic pain for years. You do not mention where exactly your spine pain is. For myself, anyways, I would have to disagree with the neurosurgeon as it IS a result of Chiari (or results in CHiari - who knows!). In Chiari, the dural sheath of the spinal cord at the level of the foramen is irritated by the herniating brain. Dural tissue is innervated (meaning it can send a pain message to the brain) and is connected to the dural tissue of the rest of the spine and to the more peripheral nerves. In the upper thoracic spine, dural tissue is more vulnerable or tensioned simply due to anatomy. Hopefully that is clear - tensioned or irritated dural tissue can be painful. Chiari is an irritant as is whiplash injuries and falls.

I have posted previously that I have done neurodynamic exercises that have made a huge difference in my thoracic pain. I am not finished all the levels of exercise so I have yet to see what the final result will be. So far so good as I am sleeping comfortably at night.

I have spinal pain with my chiari from my upper spine to the mid spine, where I feel a know on my spine(don’t know if this is normal or not) Is this where ur pain is?

yes that is exactly where it is.

I tell ya it hurts soooo bad that it feels like my spine its self is gonna snap in half!!!

I have it from base of head to mid back... i compare it to my spine being made of glass and being hit wit a hammer and shattering spine.

At least now I know I’m not alone n crazy

You folks are welcome to ask for further details of how to address it - if it is indeed the same as me. Yes, diligent work is required but no side effects.

Gabby, i would like to know what helps you. Im desperate enough to try anything in the hope in will help.

I recently had decompression surgery. The surgeon advised my daughter that there was some unneeded tissue that was sitting on my spine so he removed it. Since the surgery I have had sever back pain. So if anyone can help or suggest anything that can help.

Hello Allura

You'll have to check out my response to "Back Pain" posted by Robert Stanley. You responded to it as well. See what you think and do not be shy about asking further. My physical therapist is always willing to talk to another physical therapist who is willing to treat Chiari folk.
