Pain/bothersome around chest, rib cage area

Hi everyone,
First I want express my gratitude for this forum. I’m very grateful to have access to open communication with others who can relate or understand what CM is like.
I had decompression surgery with dura patch & C1/2 laminectomy almost 2 years ago. I am doing much better post surgery but at times some symptoms come back, on & off and not always the same. Right now I’m experiencing pain in my neck & back again, and most uncomfortable the pain, pressure/tightness, around my rib cage as if I had a belt right under my breast. I get a stabbing pain on the left side mainly that it comes from nowhere and I can barely breathe while its going on. I have in the past let my NS know, I had an MRI on the chest area a few months ago and it was normal. My post surgery follow up showed a normal MRI so we believe surgery was mostly successful. I’m grateful and yet still have symptoms from time to time so I guess I’m just curious if others have had this crazy tightness in the chest. Thank you all for your feedback.

I dont get tightness, i get really sick and need to take off my bra some times. but sometimes that doesn’t help. Im 2 yesrs post op. I hope they find something on my next mri.so i just can feel better.

Yes Whipvine84, if I’m home I’m usually bra-less because its at least less pressure just like many times I can’t wear a scarf or even collars bother around the neck :frowning: Im sorry to hear you get really sick thanks for sharin

Thanks Emmaline, I am reading it now and will certainly give to my doctor.

I get the pain around my rib cage too, but on the right side and it feels like some one is stabbing me and it hurts , but they've done two x rays and it came back normal

I get a severe stabbing pain, it really feels like a dagger (not that I ever have been stabbed though) and I feel I can’t breathe. I have to stop what I’m doing, I can’t even talk, I need to find a shallow breath to get me over the “attack”. But I also have periods in which it’s just this tightness on the rib cage area & tenderness, sometimes burning, pretty much every where in the front and back. Thanks again, I will contact my NS tomorrow to look for a referral to the appropriate specialist.
