Pain at surgical sight

I have been a little over 1yr post op yet still get a lot of pain at the surgical sight is this common also have severe range of motion loss post op been going to physical therapy for a year very minimal improvement

My scar has been cut open twice in 2 yrs, so i also have sensitivity at scar. Sounds like you hadpoor muscle healing and thats what is causing poor range of motion that PT isnt helping.

I have lost range of motion in my right shoulder. My whole right side slumps now. Is this similar to what you have?

I now have only about 60-70% movement be it up down left or right in my neck

Good day

I had a sensitive scar after my surgery. I did scar massage several times a day and worked up to firmer pressure and mobilizing as my tolerance increased. my couch had a firm area where I would rock my head over it and even rest it there. There were some exquisite tender points which all finally went away.

Yes to the neck range of motion too. I found that standard physio was not so helpful - machines and massage and a few stretches thrown in did not cut it. I finally found someone who prescribed tone reducing exercises for the upper cervical and shoulder (it's all attached you know!), deep dural mobilization for the nuchal ligament, and motor control exercises to get my neck and shoulders moving properly.

Good luck in finding the right medical folk to point you in the right direction.

I am ten months post decompression surgery and I have soreness and throbbing inside where surgery was done. Is that what you mean when you say you have pain at surgical sight? I take Gabapentin, but it doesn’t always help.

I also have a feeling at surgical site that often feels like the ache of a broken bone. Does yours feel like deep bone pain or just surface pain?
