New here--anyone else from the south?

I was diagnosed a year ago with cm1. I had bad anxiety, went on Paxil, and put chiari on the back burner since symptoms improved. Now I am unexpectedly expecting our third child. Quit Paxil as soon as I found out. Symptoms started creeping back in. Now I am in full-on research mode. Determined to get to the core of my physical problems (I truly believe my anxiety/panic is caused by chiari) after I deliver baby in November. My biggest challenge seems to be finding a chiari specialist near home. Home is Alabama. Long travel is not an option as I am a stay-at-home mom to two (almost three) kids. Thanks! Glad to have found this site :)

Hi Soul Meets body,

We have many Southern Members. I am from Southwestern Virginia , but have lived in the Richmond , Virginia area for many years. There are great Members from everywhere in the US & World. I have family in Tuscaloosa and spent many summers there growing up.I have wonderful memories of Alabama. These are some great articles I found. It's nice to meet you.

Thank you for the kind welcome! I love the south, but sometimes we don't have the resources of larger cities. UAB is an excellent hospital, but I don't know if there are any chiari specialists there...

As for Tuscaloosa, I spent part of my childhood there. Roll Tide Roll! :)

I am from kentucky and was diagnosed with C1 in september 2011. Welcome and i am glad for this site too! I have 4 children under age 10 and i am so glad to read about ways to deal with things on here.

Thank you
