Need Some Clarification On How Chiari Is Diagnosed. Thanks!

I read some replies in one of my discussions about the size of the inner skull (I believe it was) being just as important (or more so) than the size of the herniation.

I am going to try and find a Neurosurgeon in my area that is familiar with Chiari and I just wanted to know what he/she should be looking for as to make sure they are a good surgeon. I need to know these doctors are taking my MRI's seriously. I feel like I need a massive growth or blood spilling out of my head for them to even take a good, long, and serious look at my MRI images.

Thanks for your help. Hope everyone is doing okay.

Unless you can go to a chiari specialist it is unlikely you will find a NS who really understands atypical chiari. This is not taught in medical school so most will dismiss it. When a NS works primarily on this and they have large #s of patients they begin to discover the complexity of the condition. Hard to find unless you seek a NS who works only in chiari or has done extensive research on it.
