More Positive News! MRI results!

My DD's MRI showed syrinx reduction from 9.2 mm to 5 mm, nearly 50% in the 6 months since her decompression surgery. There is good CSF flow. Even better, her large pseudomeningocele is now considered "decompressed". Not completely gone, but small enough to (hopefully) not cause any future problems. Celebrating with Taco Bell, her favorite :)

Next step is weaning slowly off the Diamox, (already off the mid-day dose for 2 weeks now) then the baby aspirin, then the Topamax, and hope she continues to do well. Of course my biggest concern is that the fluid will come back, but at this point her doctors consider this unlikely.

I wanted to share the good news before I have a dirty martini or two :)

Congratulations! Such great news.....We always love to hear great news.

I really love this group <3! Thanks Wendyanne and Beeba. We've all been through the mill but manage to have a sense of humor...you guys are the best!

Haha I agree Beeba! But she loves the soft tacos, what can I say? She takes the baby aspirin because her doctors suspected a TIA when she went numb on her left side and had slurred speech in May and June. Even though her MRI and MRA were clear and her large pseudomeningocele was quite obviously putting pressure on her brain, they still didn't want to take a chance that a blood clot could/did form causing her symptoms. See why I needed the dirty martinis? LOL.

The NL said a baby aspirin is a very benign medication and it is precautionary only. She will probably come off it as soon as she is off the Diamox. Hey, if taking a baby aspirin helps with the throbbing headaches, I would take it too!

Thanks Susan and Abby :). I say the kid deserves some serious junk food if she wants it! Lol
