I just happened to look at the Dr. Oz website for Chiari information and found a wealth of it in one spot. The answers are compiled from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. I found it interesting. BUT the best part was....I found that there might also be a Type 0.
"Another form of the disorder, under debate by some scientists, is Type 0, in which there is no protrusion of the cerebellum through the foramen magnum, but headache and other symptoms of CM are present."
If you go to Dr. Oz's website, go under questions and then search Chiari, that's where you will find a bunch of Q and A's about Chiari and Syringomyelia.
Traci, I agree with you on the treatments, but I would rather have them develop a certain positive symptoms to confirm that has nothing to do with size. Like diminished or lack of CSF flow plus a , b, c, etc. Then I believe when we get this we can get better treatments.
I agree Michael, I have never thought the size of the tonsils should play a part in the dx or treatment. If a person is having symptoms why does it matter if they have 5mm tonsils or 10 mm tonsils??? I think we just need better awareness & education in the Neurosurgial establishment. It's very hard on people when they know they are ill, but the NS says they can't be treated because they aren't ill enough. It's a horrible system.....
Thanks for updating us about your wife. i honestly am praying for you all !!!!
