So...I have been looking for something to help with the pressure and pain in the back of my head. I have bought numerous neck/travel pillows, and none of them worked the way that I would have liked them to. The neck pillow just didn't give me enough support. It was too squishy. As soon as I leaned my head back, all of the stuffing would move to the ends of the pillow. I tried using hair ties to keep all of the stuffing toward the back, but then the pillow wouldn't fit around my neck properly.
Then I had an epiphany. Look:
On the left is a standard neck pillow. On the right is a Boppy...the pillow that you buy to help infants sleep. It's always firm. The contents never shift. AND..it has a removable cover that you can throw in the washing machine.
They're normally about $30, but you can go to a store that sells used kids' stuff and maternity items and get one. I bought this one for $5. The cover was $3.99 at the same store. Threw them both in the washer, and they came out looking (and smelling) like new. My wife is crafty, and is writing up a pattern, so that she can make a cover for it that is less babyish.
I like to stuff my pillow underneath my neck while I sleep to support my head and I have the same trouble with my pillow and the stuffing, so.......I'm actually going to try this - Thanks for the suggestion. My only concern is that it's kind of big and might not fit under the chin too well for side sleepers. Maybe while your wife is designing the cover, you should design or make something a little smaller and market it as a Chiari pillow - I'm sure there must be a market for something like that......just a thought.
I will definitely try it!!! Thanks !!! Is this the baby pillow that looks like a 1/4 moon? Maybe your wife since she is crafty could start a business for people with head and neck injuries??? As many pillows I have bought in 11 years...gosh would be worth a lot of money !!!
