Life/Symptoms after surgery

I have been trying to find information about having symptoms after surgery. I am 9 months post op and I still have alot of my symptoms off and on, such as trouble swallowing nerve pain, blurry vision, headaches, poor bladder control and numbness. I am fortunate that my headaches are not very often but as for the other symptoms am i always going to have them? Does anyone else deal with this?

Thanks, they are not really new symptoms but I thought they were related to the Chiari. I do have some other conditions such as fibromyalgia, sjogrens, trigeminal neuralgia, and i have a small brain anuerysm that they are watching. I guess that I was just hoping that after my surgery alot of these things would go away. I haven't been tested for any of the things you mentions Emmaline and yes I would be interested in the other boards. I guess I'm just so tried of being sick and in pain and I thought things would be different after surgery.

Hi there...............YES.

I had my surgery in 2009. So it has been just overy 3 years. I still get my headaches, dizziness, nausea and a real spaced out feeling it is aweful. It is hard as the doctors and neuro surgeons say there is nothing wrong and that they cant understand why I am still getting the symptoms. It is hard as I work and have to take alot of time off work. I wish there is something else they can do but oh well i have to put up with it it is fustrating and annoying. Everytime I got to see the doctor i feel as though its all in my head and that I am wasting there time I so do not know what to do now. Where abouts are you living. I am in New Zealand and they dont really know much about it. Well I better go now. I Hope this finds you well and know that us chiarians are not alone even tho it feels it at times.

Take Care

Thank you Stephanie, I live in PA in the US. I feel the same way you do when I go to the dr's sometimes. I had my appointment but I didn't really get any answers. I did find out that I do have permanent nerve damage in my hands, but I still just don't feel satisfied with all the answers I am getting.
