Let's get to know each other

AGE: I’m 32

DOB AND SIGN: June 21st (1st day of Summer, but it almost always rains…lol) and I’m on the cusp of Gemini and Cancer

WHERE YOU LIVE: I grew up in Port Angeles, WA (near Forks, where the Twilight books/movies are set), but I’ve lived in Vancouver, WA for the last 14 years.

FAMILY: My family mostly consists of my mom, sister, her husband, and their kids. My niece Bella will be 2 next month. She has been a huge part of my life:) My sister jokes that I’m more than an aunt to her…I’m her auntie-mama…lol:) My other niece Kayla, who just turned 8, became part of our family when her dad married my sister this last year. She is a handful, but she’s a sweetheart. My sister is also 8 months pregnant with my first nephew.

PETS: No pets right now, but I’m hoping to get a Yorkie puppy soon.

CAREER: I worked in Banking as an Operations Supervisor for many years. I left to be the Office Manager for a pediatric dental office in 2006. I still work there today, but I had to step down as Office Manager when my health became an issue. I can’t handle the stress and long hours right now. I’m lucky to work for an employer that actually cares about me…if not, I probably wouldn’t have a job right now.

HOBBIES & INTERESTS: This is a tricky one…Prior to my car accident and Chiari, I LOVED rollercoasters, skydiving, hiking, and anything adventurous. I can’t do those things anymore:( So, now I enjoy reading (when my head doesn’t hurt too bad) and traveling when I feel up to it. I also enjoy coloring with my Nieces.

TALENTS: I’m a people person:) I can diffuse almost any bad situation. When I was in Banking, several years ago, my bosses always had me talk to upset customers even though that was their job. By the time they left, I was usually able to put a smile on their face:)

YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE CHORES: I use to LOVE cleaning of any kind. I was a little OCD about it. Now, I’m not able to do much…so, my favorite chore is whatever I’m able to do that day.

SOMETHING UNKNOWN ABOUT YOU: Hmmm…My Mom went on a blind date with Ted Bundy (you know…the serial killer) back in the 70’s. She declined his offer for a ride home, which is probably the only reason she’s still alive and I’m here today. This has taught me to trust my instincts and to appreciate every day, even with the pain. Another interesting fact…My Grandpa invented the Ziplock seal. His partner, who had temporary POA while he was in the hospital, sold it out from underneath him. I could have been Heiress to the Ziplock fortune!

Thanks…Kid!!! Lol

AGE: 39

DOB AND SIGN: Feb 25 Pieces

WHERE YOU LIVE: Raised and currently living in Spring Arbor, Michigan (born in Jackson, Michigan)

And the 11th year I added a full time job as a housekeeper at a semi assisted living center, but thanks to Chiari, I had to close my daycare and will possibly be loosing the housekeeping job as I can not keep up with the work load, it is just too physical for me right now.

HOBBIES & INTERESTS: I like to play in my flower gardens, do woodworking, camp, fish, travel, crafts, fix things, soccer, softball, horseback riding and just about anything to be outside.

TALENTS: I am very good at untangling things, making household repairs, and being clever & creative as well as being patient.

YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE CHORES: If it involves being outside and getting dirty, then I almost always like it. Least favorite is cleaning the house.

SOMETHING UNKNOWN ABOUT YOU: Little quiet ole me, who rarely talked in 1st grade class tipped over a desk on a boy because he wouldn't stop bugging me when I was trying to listen to the teacher. And to this day my first grade teacher always brings it up in conversation, she remembers it well, LOL.

So watch out Chiari, here I come!

Personally I feel i was young and stupid years ago. Now that I'm 36.....atleast I have a head (atleast whats not falling out)

Lori D. I had a stillborn son just 2 years ago. I belong to that unfortunate club too! Sending you big hugs!!!

AGE: 34

DOB and Sign: 3/15, Pisces

WHERE YOU LIVE: Scappoose, OR

FAMILY: Married to my husband Jason for 10 years. Were thinking about maybe possibly starting a family within the next year but with the Chiari/Syrinx symptoms ramping up I'm not sure how that will be possible? :(

PETS: 3 cat, Zoe, Laney, and Cinnamon. Cinnamon "found" us, then turned out to be diabetic. That has sure been an experience!

HOBBIES AND INTERESTS: Reading, walking, hiking, racquetball, board games, music (I recently discovered that I love karaoke, but I often don't feel well enough to sing).

TALENTS: I used to be very talented at bowling. I bowled in college, that's how I met my husband. I've taken a break from it over the past year but hopefully will start up again soon and will find a coach to help me get my game back! Bowling has helped me to travel all over the U.S., I have a goal to visit all 50 states and to date I've visited 46 of them.

MY FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE CHORES: My favorite chore would probably be pulling weeds, because it's a great workout at the same time and so rewarding when done. My least favorite chore would probably be doing dishes, because that would mean that I probably also cooked, which I dislike!

SOMETHING UNKNOWN ABOUT YOU: I'm addicted to doing police ridealongs! 4 1/2 years ago my husband and I moved to a new home, and it just so happened that a lot of police officers lived there, including one right next door. We became good friends with him and his wife and had dinner with them often. He would come home with lots of interesting stories, and I was intrigued. He invited me on a ridealong, and I've been hooked ever since. It's such a rush. I'll never stop!

AGE: I am 50 according to my birth certificate - but I don't feel like it. Some days I feel young and others old. :)

DOB AND SIGN: Jan 20th - some documents say Capricorn and other Aquarius - born on the cusp - but I'm not really into signs, however it would explain why I'm confused sometimes.

WHERE YOU LIVE: Born in Spokane Washington, lived in Denver for 31 years and now live in Joshua Tree California. I don't miss shoveling snow, but now and then I miss a lawn. We have sand lawns. It took a little to get use to and learning to garden in the high desert is also interesting.

FAMILY: Remarried - but it's been a bit of a struggle. My husband has early onset macular degeneration and I was suppose to be the driver, etc. However, after a year into our marriage I was diax with cancer, had 2 surgeries, radiation treatment and now Chiari. I also have 2 beautiful grown children.

PETS: 3 dogs at present - Lab - Rocky, Long-haired chihuahua - Goliath, another chi - Samone who is due next week, 3 cats - Hunter, Simba, and Mimi and 3 chickens. We have sort of an animal kingdom here.

CAREER: I am a Program Assistant for Students with Disabilities at CMC. I also am getting my paintings out and am pushing my side career as an artist.

HOBBIES & INTERESTS: I love exploring different types of artist mediums (acrylic, watercolor, 3-D, ink, etc.). I paint, draw, hike, garden, sew and enjoy learning about the desert.

TALENTS: Painting and photography. I have some of my work on flickr.com under 'desertoasis'

YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE CHORES: I like a very clean bathroom and I don't really care for laundry. It seems to pile up so quickly.

SOMETHING UNKNOWN ABOUT YOU: If I had the finances - I would travel and become a professional photographer. There is so much to see in this world. I don't have any tattoos because of thyroid cancer. Tattoos use iodine in the process and I must stay away from it. I would own land and more animals - at least a horse or two, a donkey, a goat, who knows what else. I'm also more forgetful and clumsy with this Chiari. This is the 2nd time I've tried to post because I hit the wrong button before. I hope it works.
