Well it's been a week from surgery. Why am I not up doing jumping jacks yet? Geesh. I am still taking pain meds every 4 hours. This is so not like me. I am ready to get back to life.
I will be two weeks out tomorrow. They have me on some pretty heavy meds, and I can only go about 6 hours without taking them. They had to cut deep into my neck muscle, so they have me on a muscle relaxer(I still get bad muscle spasms) plus pain meds. I feel a lot different then I did one week ago. I don't always feel like someone is pushing me down when I try to move, but it is still a daily process. I hope you start noticing a difference each day!
It takes 18 months for your bones just to heal. Most Chiarians take months to even feel like a person again. Did anyone tell you that surgery is just a treatment for CM & not a cure? Some Neurosurgeons "forget" to tell their patients that fact. I had my whole cervical spine rebuilt with my Decompression & Crainectomy surgeries. I understand neck issues. I really hope you do well. Please be patient. I know everyone is different. I want you to be amazingly well !!!! I was advised to walk as much as possible & be sure to be eating as healthy as possible. Please keep us posted on how you are doing.

I am 4 weeks post op and I still have rough days. I am happy to tell you that I was most certainly in the same place at one week and it will get better. I was/am frustrated at what can be done. I am just excited now to be down to 1 pill every 5-6 hours and muscle relaxers as needed. Keep your head up…(supported for now of course =))
