Is there a Chiari specialist in Alabama?

I am being sent to my second neurosurgeon at my request for a second opinion. Neither doctor is a specialist and my doctor who is sending me knows very little about Chiari himself. He could not give me a name of a actual Chiari Specialist and said to me that was what a brain surgeon is for???? I mean come on! Really?? That's all he had for me? On top of it all, when I asked how my fluid was flowing and whether or not I had a syrnix, he said no. However, I have had NO MRI done with contrast or any MRI of my spine. Isn't that important??? I desperately need a specialist and hope that somone can help me out here.... I am barely sleeping at night as my pressure is severe when I'm trying to sleep. When I wake up I have a hard time sitting up, let alone walking straight for the first 10 minutes. It's as if the blocking is happening severely while i try to sleep.. no matter how i lay down. this doesn't include all my symptoms throughout the day.... It is getting really scary for me.... What do I do??? Excersize?? I am 4'11 I don't know if size has anything to do with it all.

I am also looking for a specialist in alabama. I have an appointment with Dr. Hadley in Birmigham. He’s not a chiari specialist, but he has participated in chiari studies. I found his name while reading an article on chiari from a medical journal. I’m hoping he’s more knowledgable on chiari than the last neurosurgeon I saw. Maybe he’s worth researching?

I almost didn't see your reply. I am still learning how to navigate through this site. Dr. Ronderoz is the 2nd opinion doctor they set me up with. I have to go see him today. He's not a chiari specialist either. I'll look Dr. Hadley up. I am about 2-3 hours South from Birmingham. Isn't it amazing how so many of these doctors are lacking knowledge on chiari??? It makes it harder for us as patients to trust anyone...
