Initial diagnosis

My stepmom gave me a copy of the transcript from my MRI that I had in 2014. It says the cerebellar tonsils extend beneath the foramen magnum suggestiong chiari 1 malformation. At the bottom it says "Findings suggest Chiari 1 malformation with unremarkable appearance of the cervical spinal cord," It also says"Mild spondylosis with disc bulge at C4-C5." and it says I have a slight depression of the underlying cord at c4-c5 and mild right foraminal narrowing. I am a little confused as I don't know what all of the terms mean but it seems to me that a lot of it is degenerative disc disease. Is that part of the Chiair?

Hi,

Everything you have mentioned I have been diagnosed with. I think they all kind of go hand in hand with Chiari. I have had fusion at c4-c5 and now need it at c6-c7 plus the Chiari surgery. I also have scoliosis and problems in my lumbar spine also. Don't know if this helps you any. The depression of the cord you mentioned is your bulging disc is pushing on your spinal cord. You are right about the degenerative disc disease...it causes many problems in the spine.
