Good to hear positive news!
Congratulations! Did you expect such a smooth recovery? I also had surgery 3 weeks, ago tomorrow. Overall, it was not as bad as expected. I started working from home part-time last week. I didn't get staples, only tape and stitches that will dissolve over time.
Felicia, I did not think the recovery was going to be as easy as it was. I know I have a high pain tolerance (which I thought would help me a little) but I guess I was expecting the worse. I was done with pain meds and muscle relaxers after 7 days, except for an occasional one here and there when I did too much and I was ready to come back to work last week as soon as I got the staples out but my husband said I was pushing it so I agreed to stay home one more week. I just hope the recovery continues to go this way, I feel lucky!
My leg 10 days after
542-Leg2weeks.jpg (167 KB)Hopefully, we can inspire others. I know how worried I was before surgery.
Yeah, I was too, I even moved my surgery date up because I was tired of sitting around worrying about it. But the day of surgery I wasn't nervous at all for some reason.
Congratulations Jen! I am so happy for you. Three weeks and you're back at work...That's amazing. Thanks for the pics and for the encouragement your example gives. Just make sure you take care of yourself and rest when you can.
What wonderful news! It's always great when it wasn't as bad as we expected.
Can I ask what did they do to your leg?
Diana
The doctor took a tendon from my leg to use as a patch where he removed the dura, in his opinion it tends to hold better and is easier on th body than the artificial patches that some doctors use. He has had very few leaks with this procedure. Afterwords, my leg was sewn from the inside and then just glued on the outside.
Awesome! I'm so happy you are doing so well. My Dura patch was harvested from a place higher on my head and I haven't had a problem.

Can I ask who your NS is and where you had your surgery?
Becki, I honstly didnt start feeling better until I started weaning myself off all the meds, I was taking pain pills and muscle relaxers every 4 hours around the clock for the first 5 or 6 days. Everyone kept telling me stay on top of the pain, so I kept taking them. By day 8 I was just taking them as needed and I started moving around a lot more and it really made me feel better. I still had pain but it was bearable. I hope you start feeling better quickly!

I am so glad you are doing well. I had my surgery last thursday but I still feel like I was just run over by a truck. But I can tell that most of the CM symptoms that bothered me are not!
I had my surgery in Houston at the Methodist hospital by Dr. Parrish. I think he is an excellent doctor, he is very down to earth, has good bed side manner and will talk to you as long as you want. He doesn't explain things in depth right away though, but when you ask questions he will answer them in a way you can understand and he doesnt mind answering all your questions. He even spent 20 minutes with me talking about my sons chiari and answering my questions about him. I wish he could do my sons surgery but he only have surgical privlages at Methodist and they dont care for children there only 17 and up :(
