Hello

I am new to this site and was wondering if anyone has found a combination of med’s that seem to work. Right now im on Vicodin(500) 3 times a day, Bacolfen 3 times a day, and Gabapentin at bed time. However it hasnt down the trick. Im going thru the VA for treatment and im being seen the in TBI unit. However all them their say they have never seen it and im being sent to see a NS. The headaches and the constant neck spasm on my left side ( is that normal the 24hr/7days a week neck spasms. Being can see it while looking at me. Just a few questions. thanks bryan

Hi Bryan,

Vicodin & Gabapentin (Neurontin) didn't work for me either. I do occasionally use Baclophen, but Klonopin works much better for me. I have see a Spine Specialist & Pain Mgmt & have a amazing PCP. I don't know what your pain levels are, so I will tell you what I have taken that works. I had an extreme CM situation and am always in pain. It never goes below an 8 on a 1-10 scale with pain mgmt.I did take Narcotics at high doses for several years, then I had to take myself off them. They ruined my sleep patterns. I now take 100 mg Tramadol 3x a day. .1 mg Klonipin 3 x a day, Adderal XR 20 mg as a anti depressant, Amitriptylene 75 mg . at night & 100 mg Trazadone at night with Cinnamon Capsules & Omega 3's & 6's, I use Arnica Gel 3 x a day I take Fexeril, Valium, Promethazine, Fioricet, Hydrocodone as needed . I used to take Oxycontin, w /oxycodone for breakthrough pain., Methodone with Percocet for breakthrough pain, Fentanyl Patches..which works well for constant even pain mgmt, but they only last 48 hours and some Dr.'s believe they last 72 hours w/ breakthrough pain meds. My pharmacist had to call my Dr. about the Fentanyl coverage span. Skelaxin , if you take it over two years it affects your swallowing., Every hydrocodone, Morphine Sulfate, Dilaudid, They all work for serious pain & have different side effects. I have also had Nerve Blocks and Ablation. I have tried others I can't even remember. My CM surgeries were in 2005, so I have been on pain mgmt for 7 years. There are some promising pain medications that are in the FDA approval stage. One stops the Glial cells from sending the pain message yo your brain. We will see how that goes. Good Luck & if you have any questions lease let me know. Don't be afraid of Drug Addiction I came off Narcotics very easily. Just talk to your Dr's and explain how difficult your pain is. All my Dr's have been wonderful.

This is all stared in 04 when i was in the MVA, I hit my head pretty hard. I had a headahce, unequal pupils and sore neck. I went to see a doctor as my camp because i was in Iraq. I didnt want to go another 2 hrs to see a real doctor. I didnt go. When I got back home I was having problems with neck pain, headaches and tingling in my finger tips. I went thru arm rehab cause they thought maybe my arm was going numb casue of that. after that rehab I did an MRI and that found I had a budling disc in my c3, c4. After that I spent the next two years going in and out of rehabs. Then I got epidural. Those didnt seem to work. I then saw a chiropractor. That didnt work either. I then decieded to go back to the VA for more help because I was fed up. I was 20 at the time of my accident. The medicine im on right now isnt doing the job. And I dont want to seem like a pill junkie every time I go into the VA. Most articles I read say between 25 and 35 they began to experience problems. Me being only 20 and right after a MVA,,i dont know if that sides with me more than the later. Reason asking is because im 40 percent disable already and with this new finding im researching for as many aves as I can find. But the medicine needs up so I can be out of pain. Thxs again.

Hey Bryan, I'm also new to this site. I have found the only thing that works is to keep my body guessing. Sometimes I have migraines that last four weeks, even months. The latest trick is a Demerol shot then a few hours later Vicodin, Advil Migraine, and two Excedrin. My body always builds up a tolerance so pain blockers only work for a short time. If you can keep switching around I find that is the best. Just make sure what you are taking is safe to combine. I work with my PCP since I was treated as a drug seeker the last time I went into a walk in. Good luck, hope this helps.
