I am almost 5 months post op and I have been having horrible head sweats. I mean like I am drenched. I was wondering if anyone else has done this post decompression surgery??? If so, have you found anything that helps? I find that they are worst if I have had to bend over for a prolong period of time or i am bending over a bunch of a time in a row, like to pick up toys or weeding the garden. The PA at my surgeon's office doesn't think it is chiari related, but it has only happened since the surgery. I am a school teacher and I am really nervous for the upcoming school year. Appearance is really important and having had to cut my hair all off has been hard enough. I don't want to look like I just stepped out of the shower all the time too. I guess I should mention nowhere else on my body is sweating and it happens regardless of if I am hot, cold or perfect.
It tends to be all over my head. After discussing it with my husband last night he reminded me that it started when I became symptomatic with the chiari, but it has become worse since the surgery. I hate memory loss :( I just wish i could get some answers!!!!
It may be from your meds, because I take a med that causes excessive sweatting and I hate sweating like that. It doesn't matter if I'm not doing much I be sweating like someone poured a bucket of water on me.
Michelle,
I had excessive sweating in my head only before surgery and I still have it some post op, however it does seem to be a little bit better. Like you, the rest of my body is fine, but if I get the least bit warm my face/forehead will sweat profusely. I try to stay in a cool environment if at all possible.
