Head Pressure

I know everyone heals differently. I’m 4 weeks post op and I’ve had this same head pressure only on 1 side. Been that way since I was 1 day post op. Dr office says it’s just inflammation and normal healing. Plus on the opposite side where they shaved my hair it’s red no fever but the dr says maybe it’s a reaction to the surgical prepping solution and to keep an eye on it.
Does this all sound right ?? Or should i be worried ??
Thanks

When you say you are having head pressure on one side, where exactly is the pain? Many Chiarians have Occipital Neuralgia. It can only be on one side. Also many Chiarians has neck & shoulder pain on one side.

Head Pressure is on the right side from the top of the head down the side Of the incision all the way to the neck area. Head on that side is very sensitive to the touch. Worse is the top area.

Hi Lynanne, i had surgery almost a year ago & i off & on still get pressure / headaches, just on the left side side of my head, & my neck always hurts. As far as the sensitivity it should get better in a few more months, mine did any ways.. Just try to be patient. In my experience recovery if thats what u want to call it takes FOREVER. Good luck...

Lyanne,

Please ask your Dr. if he thinks your head pressure pain is Occipital Neuralgia. Most Chiarians have Pressure Headaches that is Occipital Neuralgia. It can also cause pain to touch & a band tightening sensation. I agree with Chris's statement "In my experience recovery if that's what u want to call it takes FOREVER." Everyone is different & that is frustrating. We have many successful post surgical Members. Never give up ope.

My 14 yr old was decompressed on Nov. 20. The procedure site is healing up and 1/4 of it is almost totally faded. As for pain, she's really doing great BUT, there is a HUGE area on one side of her head that hurts SO horribly bad, you can't even lightly touch it. Starts kinda close to the graft area, goes out and down but does not cross over to the other side. As if that line is an actual line. Hers does not go down to the neck but it is BAAAAAAAD. Makes car rides, hair brushing and hair washing a nightmare. OF COURSE the neuro NP she met for her 2 two week follow up acted as if she'd never heard of such a thing and it was oh-so-strange but Lynn is used to hearing this sort of goofiness now. She's had over 2 years of it.

No fever, just a little inflammation and they did an MRI which looks great. In my daughter's case, we're going to just give it time...like MONTHS and MONTHS.

Oh I know about the car ride, brushing or washing my hair OMG that HURTS BAD !! I see my NS on Monday I will see what he says. It will be 30 days post op. I will keep y’all posted on what ge says.
Thanks everyone for your input.

Went to my appt today and we discussed my concerns regarding my head pressure. And I was told that it’s the healing process and it takes time and to apply ice or heat and see if it helps. So I will try that and see what happens. I will give it another couple of weeks because I know it’s still early in recovery. So frustrating for sure.
