Has anyone had an EMG?

Okay Guys, so I have had the decompression surgery; the procedure where they scope you from both ends when they are checking for acid reflux disorder; c6/c7 diskectomy with allograft and fusion which was in January. Well now I had an EMG on my left foot because when I awakened from surgery; I could not feel my legs and after recovery my great right toe does not respond to me. I kept tripping over it and hitting my head, falling. Anyway the EMG showed the nerve is pinched from my spine all the way down my right leg so now I have to wear this brace for support and I am scheduled for another EMG for the left leg because that is the one I have been complaining to the doctors about it feels numb more and more. I guess I want to know is anyone else experiencing anything like this?

I haven't had this problem, but my husband did. He had bulging discs and pinched nerves in his cervical spine. He had the EMG test done on all four limbs as he had troubles with all. His right leg was the worst though. He tripped and fell frequently too. He ended up having a laminectomy done for C4-5 and C5-6. He had a flattened spinal cord in those areas as well as crushed root nerves. The EMG was a rough test for him, but a helpful one.

Are they going to do anything for you regarding the pinched nerve?

My son has Chiari but I was the one who actually just had an EMG a few days ago. My brain MRI shows no remote signs of Chiari so the NL did an EMG to determine the cause of my left sided neck/shoulder pain, posterior headaches and dizziness for a year now. The EMG showed that I have Carpal Tunnel in my hands but still no answers to the other symptoms. The NL is sending me for a regular XRay of the Cervical Spine this week and says I may need PT or pain meds.

I tell everyone who has a lot of chiari symptoms,to not rule it out all together, because I experienced so much suffering. The mainstream medical community knows so little about diagnosing this condition, there does not need to be a herniation to still suffer with chiari. My journey was very long and hard because of this fact.It is a good idea to go by symptoms, balance issues, cine mri, tilt table test there are specialist who deal with chiari do your homework if you feel that your symptoms Could be related to chiari you may need a specialist they are more learned on this condition.
