I know this is probably unrelated, but I wondered, if any, have found themselves to be gluten intolerant? It may be coincidental, but I can trace my digestive issues back to around the same time as my symptoms increased several years ago. I’ve only recently been diagnosed with Celiac Disease and wondered is there’s any connection. Purely out of curiosity.
Just one more thing to worry about but at least it’s controllable!
Hello Christiesue,
I am here to tell you that I believe that there is indeed a connection between having a chiari and gluten
intolerance.. because I have both as well.. along with food allergies, acid reflux, dysphagia, wheezing, coughing,
pneumonia (3 - 4 times)
Since the chiari can affect swallowing and digestion due to the compression of the muscles & nerves that control the
swallowing mechanism.. this can possibly create an abnormal transit time (perhaps too fast or slow) of food & liquid
and therefore influence the health of the digestive tract, intestines, colon, etc.. Perhaps you may feel that things get stuck or don't move properly especially if you eat the wrong thing.. Gluten is a major allergen and can be very invasive
to someone with digestive issues.. So it is very important to maintain a
healthy colon.. make sure you take plenty of probiotics.. as well as fresh fruits & vegetables, lean protein like chicken, fish, turkey, etc.. whole grains like brown rice or quinoa.. and live raw food like from juicing.. all of this helps to keep the whole digestive tract very healthy & flowing normally. So just stay away from any of the known allergens that can compromise the immune system.. (gluten, wheat, vinegar, yeast, cheese, etc.. ) and see if you notice a difference
in your symptoms..
Hope this helps. :)
