Since they moved surgery to the 5th, I am having to change some of my plans for my children. Can anyone give me an idea of the length of stay in the hospital? This extra week is going to drive me crazy but I need to make sure my children and this house is in order before next week.
I had surgery on a wednesday and went home on friday, two days later.
I was in the ICU for a few hours recovery only, and spent both nights in an ICU step down unit.
Totally depends on your doctor, hospital policy, your general health, how quickly you bounce back and can get around unassisted. (This is if there are no surgical complications, which would obviously prolong your hospital stay)
I had surgery on Monday and was released Tuesday. I would plan for longer though because no one else I've talked to has had such a short stay. I had to do some exercises with the PT and OT staff before I got clearance to leave. It really depends on how well your pain is managed and how well you bounce back from anesthesia.
