I am new to the site. Actually new to this whole thing. I was diagnosed in Aug.2014 and had surgery in Dec.2014. Everything went so fast. I did not really look into much about it, although my husband did some. Now that I am recovering, I am looking into things. Those of you who have commented and replied, thank you. I had surgery in Kelowna BC and am looking for anyone else who is navigating the BC system. Or comments from anyone else. I just do not want to feel alone anymore.
Hi, I am not in BC but I was diagnosed in June of 2014 and I am having surgery next week. I totally get the alone feeling. If you try and explain they look at you like you are crazy, and if one more person tells me "but you look fine" I may completely lose it.
Right now I am dealing with almost insurmountable fear about the surgery. It is so hard to deal with an illness that no one understands, or has even heard of for that matter.
How are you feeling now?

No one understands pain!!!!! Yes, they all say you look fine. But inside you are dying. I also had fear about the surery, so much so that I totally believed I would not make it. I had left notes for my sons and husband. My NS actually asked me in the OR if I was OK with continuing. I wanted to scream NO, but knew inside that I could not longer live like I was.
I am actually doing fairly well. At least from my perspective. The pain is mostly below 5. I am still off work, but am looking forward to going back. Hopefully.
