My NL sent me to who is generally considered the best NS in these parts. He was on the President surgery list for years and has all other types of qualifications for "the best". Most people think if he can't find anything it doesn't exsist. After waiting for over 2 hours he walks in winks at my wife spends 15 minutes talking over me or not letting me talk at all while he flirts with my wife. Tells me my NL is wrong that he sees no heriniation or pressure on brain stem but refuses to look at the whole MRI. Tells me I have classic symptoms but not CM. Sends me for orthostatic hypotension test ( tilt talbe ) because the symptoms are so similar. All clear imagine that. So now back to square one. NL has pulled me from work for a brain disorder now to find out which one I have. Looking for a NS with CM experience my NL still believes I have CM. Maybe the next to the best can help.
Hi..
Just wondering if you got the radiologist written report of the MRI..does it state the herniation? Ususally it is the other way around..NL blows off Chiari as the problem...When is the tilt table test?
Good luck and keep us updated.
Sounds like you already had the tilt table test and it was all clear?
I would get a second opinion.
My first NL said migraines and the rest was in my head see a shrink. The MRI report doesnt mention Heriation only no stroke,clots,etc.. Second opinion NL talked to me tested my eyes said I think you have CM looked at the MRI and found herination and showed me. So I am confussed why no one else see's this. Tilt table results were normal didnt change bp or pulse.

Hi...
I am baffled at what you are going through with this! Ok, just so I get it right..the radiology report of th MRI of your brain DOES NOT mention Chiari 1 Malformation, correct?
The 1st NL tells you there is no herniation and to see a shrink! Right?? OMG!!
The NS , who is suppose to THE BEST..starts your appt by winking and flirting with your wife..then goes on to talk over you and says there is no herniation...do I have it right so far? He then sends you for a tilt table test which comes back ok.
Now..this is only my opinion...I would start from square 1......I would go to the MRI place and ask if ANOTHER radiologist can review this MRI, as you are getting conflicting input from 2 separate docs..tell the MRI place that one say YES..there it is, the herniation, and the other says there is nothing. I had to have this done myself a couple of yrs ago.
It was an scary thing for me to do...I hate conflict and confrontation..however...I knew that something was not right...this had to do with a disk in my neck..not CHiari....but , you get my point...
A new radiologist looked at the MRI and DID come up with the proper Dx!!!!
From my point of view...and I am NO DOCTOR....someone has got to be correct..one sees a herniation and the other does not....who is correct?????
Of course, this is just a suggestion and my own experience...but you deserve answers!
