I am going to Disney in 8 weeks, and will be flying for the first time since my surgery. Obviously, roller coasters are out. But does anyone have any advice on the other rides? I'm also really worried about flying. I have IIH so the pressure change is scaring me. Any advice would be awesome.
This is from the list COPING WITH CHIARI
2. Avoid neck-stressing activities (football, soccer, basketball, wave pools, diving, tennis, roller coasters, other amusement park rides of high G forces, lifting in excess of 15 lb, backpacking, falling asleep in chairs, extended reading with head bent etc.)
As a former Disney AP and ACM1 Syrinx; always stay off the rides with back and neck warnings. It is safe to say any ride with the name “Mountain” in it is off limits…Indiana Jones would be great if you want to recreate a seizure or drop attack. Have a magical trip!!
I ride all the rides at Disneyland. My surgeon cleared me after surgery in 2012. My herniation is 29mm yes 29! I still have headaches everyday but I’m not letting Chiari take over my life. I will have a headache regardless I just take pain meds with me. But ask your dr before doing anything
I've put in calls to my Nuerologist and my physical therapist I'm just waiting on them to call back. My NS told me coasters were ok and I was cleared to do everything but I have no intention of going near roller coasters. I was so sick I couldn't leave my house before I had my surgery, I'd like to never be like that again. Mostly I'm concerned about the IIH and flying. I've been looking at videos of all the rides in the parks I'm going to, and that's given me a really good idea of which rides are ok and which ones aren't. Does anyone have any tips on making flying more comfortable?
