Chiari + Hemiplegic Migraine+Botox =?

Hi everyone,

I was at my neurologist yesterday (I have to keep seeing him cause of my dual diagnosis) and he wants me to try botox, he warned me how expensive it was etc. And I asked out of curiosity where it would actually be injected and he told me it would be at the base of the skull, I asked him if that was safe considering I had a portion removed during my chiari surgery and he said he didn’t know because he didn’t actually do the botox injections but his “Headache guy around town” did them and I’d have to ask him, he asked if I wanted a referral and I said I’d wait a while and think it over… has anybody had anything like this done or am I just being overly cautious? I’m reluctant to have anything done to my neck unless it’s unavoidable or at least completely safe!

I've not had any botox myself. I know there have been other members who have tried it and hopefully they'll chime in with assistance. I would recommend that you call your NS and ask him what he thinks of the injection site. I would be wary of having them done without checking into it first. Good luck!

Thanks Anglyn, I’m really nervous about anybody doing things to my neck especially since I got meningitis after the decompression surgery…
