I have a 15 yr old daughter who was diagnosed with chiari last month an we r meeting with a neurosurgeon next week but this is all so new. Anyways we were sitting watching a movie an my daughter started freaking out because her mouth was going numb she has had numbness in her arms but never the mouth. Can someone plz let me know if we should b alarmed or is this normal??

My face from the nose down was numb for months until I had my surgery. I’m 6 months post op, and no more numbness.
Pam thats awesome hunny my daughters neurologist said it could b chiari or the medician she is on we will know more in 1 1/2 weeks when he meds settle down an thursday we c the neurosurgeon so hopefully we will know even more its just scary when u know nothing about an illness then u have to cram to learn about it as everyone at one point or another had to do i appreciate everyones advice an watching my daughter go thru this makes my heart go out to each an everyone of u i know if she has the surgery her neurologist said they have to reconstruct a new passageway for the spinal fluid to go thru i dont know if anyone has had that done but thats what she is looking forward too unless the neurosurgeon says different thanks for everyones help an advice it is so much appreciated hugs to all
