Everything is going really well for Sydney.
The doctor said that her chiari was much worst then the MRI said.
The first day she was very nauseaed, was throwing up constantly. But they pumped her up with lots of medicine. She said she felt little pain, just a little sore. She was really out of it. The thing she hated was having to stay flat for 48 hours.
The second day, Tuesday, the Dr allowed her to sit up 10 degrees at a time. But her nausea was getting to her so they stopped.
She stayed in ICU for 2 days and the end of the 2 day she was able to go back to her own room.
The third day they finally let her get up and pee on her own. Walk around and put on her own clothes.
So far she is doing well, they are very impressed with her results, never seen a case like hers like this.
Thank you so much for letting us know how Sydney is doing. Please let her know I am thinking about her and praying for you all !!! There has never been another Member that has touched me as much as Sydney and her situation has. We get several teens a year and many children, and I care for them all. Sydney is such a sweetheart and reminds me of my own daughter who is 19 yrs old. I honestly can't wait to hear the incredible things she will do with her life. Just remember we are here for you all post op also. I am so happy for you all.....
My 14 yr old had her decompression done on Nov. 20 after a 2 year nightmare medical odyssey. So hard to watch her suffer; even harder during recovery. Now though, she has SO MUCH of her life back...running daily, missing very few social events, etc,... She still needs a lot of sleep and has pain but that's about it. Good luck with helping her though recovery...there is light at the end of the tunnel! :)
Thanks you so very much for the update..be sure to tell Sydney that we will all be here awaiting to hear from her how she is doing!!! Give her my best!!
