Weird hitches in my breathing

I have noticed that a number of times a day (slowly increasing in its frequency) that I go to breath in and my throat closes like I was trying to swallow instead. At that point I have to really concentrate on keeping my throat open so I can get some air in.

I plan on bringing this up with my PCP on Friday to see what she says. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this happen?

Sometimes it feels like I am having trouble breathing. Then I find myself breathing harder trying to catch my breath. It's weird :/

I’ve had some strange issues with my breathing also. Sometimes, I have a hard time catching my breath. This happens randomly. I also have times where I forget to breath. It’s almost like I’m holding my breath. This happens randomly also. This is one of the many things that I plan to discuss with my NS at the end of the month. You should definitely discuss this with your doctor.

P.S.- I just did the breath holding thing again while writing this post.

I definitely plan on telling my PCP and I'll bring it up to my NL (although he seems a little on the lacking side). It just seems weird and then I always get a weird look when it happens cuz there's almost a snorting-type noise that accompanies it :(

Prior to having decompression surgery almost three weeks ago I had basically the exact symptoms with my breathing and my swollowing after that became harder and harder. Since surgery I still find I have the once off deep breath almost to a snort but no where near as often and hoping its easing even more day by day…
Definately let them know as my symptoms with swollowing increased from here and I think they need to know everything going on

I had these strange breathing hitches too before decompression. I had my surgery in December. Poor recovery and medical support team. I am experiencing a number of symptoms again, but the one that bothers me the most is the breathing hitches...again! My throat has been feeling sore, my voice is raspy and there is so much pressure in the back of my throat. I just started noticing the breathing sx again. I am not sure how to wxplain it, it is almost like something closes as I am trying to breath. It is bothersome, will be calling my PCP and NS tomorrow.

I'm SO glad I spent some time on this site before my NS appt today, I've wondered why I have this breathing thing going on where I feel like I'm catching my breath, almost like if I were crying and gasping for air! This site makes me feel so 'normal' seeing that I'm not crazy, it's all just part of the 'plague' as I've fondly referred to that 5mm spot on my MRI.
