Ventriculomegaly? Or Hydrocephalus

Hello,
I dont post much but I’ve been feeling pretty down lately so I thought I would. Five years ago I was decompressed due to a 17mm herniation and I was developing hydrocephalus. I had no major complications, the occipitul headaches went away, still felt pressure sometimes but was able to function (and could finally laugh without pounding pain). Overall felt much better. Although I told my NS about the mild pressure he said there was nothing more he could do other than perform all these painful tests and I would need to go to the hospital to do them. And at the time I didnt know as much as I do now about Chiari and didnt question him.

My last MRI says I have Ventriculomegaly and that its stable. This was a year ago. I asked my NL about this at the time but he was not concerned about it and told me not to worry. I asked him if I could do an annual MRI and he said no that there has to be a debilitating issue to request one. Well the past few weeks I’ve been getting headaches but in the front, no pain in the back. I’m very tired, lethargic and just want to go to sleep. I cant concentrate and becoming very forgetful. I also have a handful of other symptoms.

When I google Ventriculomegaly, hydrocephalus comes up. Are these basically the same? Do I need treatment? I just dont know what to do. I think I put off going to doctor because I’m afraid they’ll just brush it off.

Thanks for any thoughts,

Sarah

It looks as if ventriculomegaly is the same as hydrocephalus. I would go ahead to the doctor and let him know what you are experiencing. If he doesn't take you seriously don't be afraid to seek a second opinion!

Thanks for all your info. I made an appointment with my NL but plan on one with my primary too. A few of those docs listed are in my area. I’m just trying to stay hopeful and positive.
