I have a few questions, and one that is possibly TMI. Does anyone suffer from insane headaches when they strain? It literally feels like my head is going to explode! I grab my head, and beg for the pain to stop. Also, my area is under the gun Tuesday for a possible tornado outbreak. I am not scared of tornadoes, but the noise of the sirens sends my nerves on end. Does anyone who lives in tornado alley know how to get the news I need, but avoid the deafening sounds of a siren? Last question, I promise, after sitting for a prolonged period I have a very difficult time moving my legs. My lower half will not cooperate, and I look like a drunk baby giraffe trying to walk. Is this part of Chiari as well, does anyone know? Thank you!
Straining was discussed in this past discussion, hope this helps: http://www.chiarisupport.org/forum/topics/my-head-pain-has-taken-over-my-life?commentId=5129359%3AComment%3A373186
I get you with the "drunk baby giraffe" part of your symptoms.
I am very wobbly after sitting for longer than 15 minutes- I have to plant my feet and plan my first few steps. And forget "tightrope steps" I've almost eaten curb doing that test for doctors.
My NS can't promise that will go away after surgery, so I'm trying to be lighthearted about it. I think about it being my own personal carnival ride, and it gives me an excuse to walk arm-in-arm with my favorite people.
I have never been very shall we say graceful ( its a running joke any more in my family ) although I have enough balance to have practiced martial arts for years ( you should have see the look or horror on my drs face when I told him that among other favorite past times like roller coasters ) but now when I get up I have to brace myself I get dizzy and have to take it fairly slow.
I have had the walking problems too. And as a teacher when you hit the ground, while you have a lot of concerned faces around you that is not what you want the Administration to see.
With its not so much after sitting for awhile, my legs sometimes want to let go, so I am like a walking drink ever so often.
