Hello im new to this site.Im just wondering does anyones ears sqeak and ring.Im 5 months post op number 1 and all this weird symptoms are popping up.Also has anyone experienced weird sensations with their heart like my heart sometimes pumps super fast then sorta not stops but feels as though its being sucked back into my chest and like it knocks the wind out of me.I should probably be seing a doctor but I really! hate doctors cause they jab me everytime I go I have a massive phobia for hospitals, doctors, needles and after being in hospital for several weeks and being jabbed 52 times in one fortnight I kinda want a break. And I still get dizzy spells. How long does it take for a herniation to grow back. And im still experiencing chiari pain even though they burnt away the herniation is that suppose to happen.
Yes I do have constant ringing in my left ear, which is at its worst of course when it gets quiet. And the heart beat thing also. But I only notice that when I am waking or going to sleep at night and it feels like my heart stops momentarily and it kinda makes me feel light headed. It doesn’t seem to last long, don’t know if it has anything to do with the Chiari. Hope you get some answers soon.
Yes the heart thing happened in my sleep it was quite scary or when im sitting still the dizzies still happen even though I have been decompressed.I keep saying “stop mumbling” Im starting to wonder is everyone mumbling or is it my ears. The tettinitus is more an annoyance than anything.
Sorry, Brainsurgerychick, to hear you are having "The Weird!" Take courage that you are not alone with weird symptoms in the throng of Chiarians.
I did - and still do have - the tetinitus symptoms, but at least THAT symptom faded away considerably over the years since surgery. Recovery from decompression surgery can take years - so don't panic just yet. You still have time.
Cardiovascular issues are also quite common with Chiaris. That's because your brain stem was the 'victim' of your oozing brain's compression - and the brain stem is in charge of all your automatic body operations. All the things you don't have to think about. I still get minutes of palpatations, but before decompression surgery, I used to get days and weeks where my heart would race like a rabbit! Every time, I went to the ER, and every time the tests came back NORMAL. Nothing was wrong with the heart. It's the CNS 'Elerical' system coming from the brain stem that's shorting out - that's what's making your heart do wonky things. Hopefully, yours will heal in time. Mine never will - I have permanent damage to the brain stem. But still, SOME improvement is better than none! Hope to hear that you will soon be a Happybrainsurgerychick.
My ears ring off and on during a months time. I get dizzy often and when I lay down at night to sleep my heart feels like it is beating fast. I doesn’t feel like that during the day. Maybe because I am busy doing other things and I am not paying attention. My Chiari is Type 1. They say you are not supposed to have symptoms with Type 1 but I do. My headaches are the worst. It is like a constant headache, just varies in intensity.
