Temporary remission?

I went to see my neurologist today and he said that somehow it appeared from my last MRI that my malformation had actually SHRUNK. It's also been almost 3 weeks since I had a severe migraine or headache of any kind and 2 weeks since I had vision problems. I think it's weird that I go from weekly severe migraines and daily vision problems to nothing so quickly. He still wants to keep an eye on me and repeat the MRI in case if they didn't measure correctly or if there was a positioning issue. I'm glad he's being so in-depth like this but at the same time it makes me wonder.

That’s great you are feeling better!

I called today and had him do the referral for that. Haven't heard back but it normally takes a week or so before I hear back with a date and time.

Glad you are feeling good right now. Also happy your dr is watching and monitoring. If you have a repeat MRI please request an upright flex/ext MRI to see if position is having an impact. My flat MRI looks very different than my upright - I live my life upright and I think most people do - wish this was a standard test.

It's great that you're feeling better! I'd warn you to be cautious about getting to excited about your Chiari shrinking, however. At one point, I had an MRI where it looked like mine was significantly smaller (my neurologist at the time actually suggested I might be "growing out of it") but it turned out that it was just the angle that was different.

Well, update on this. The upright MRI showed that it had actually gotten bigger and now my care team has expanded to include a pain management specialist as well as a new neurosurgeon after my first one retired on me.

Glad they looked at it again. Its amazing what changes you can see in an upright vs a supine MRI. Hope your team can help.
