Syrinx pain

Hello friends

I have a few questions regarding my thoracic syrinx, would love any input! I am wondering if anyone experienced a relief of pain realted to their syrinx after the possterior fossa decompression? I would also like to hear what your syrinx pain/ sympotms are and anything you find helpful in managing these. Thanks for your time! I look forward to your comments! Have a great day all!

Hi. I have a syrinx that runs from my neck to halfway down my back and is actually growing a secondary syrinx out and carving it’s way up. My pain came very sudden and very hard. I was initially put on oxycodone which worked just fine, but there is no shock that I eventually developed a tolerance and had to take more and more. (it took over a year from onset of horrible pain to have surgery due to other complications along the way). I was put on the fentanyl patch to avoid using so much oxycodone. That worked wonderful for a good while. I just had to get the higher dose last week, and have to take oxycodone for breakthrough pain. I had my decompression surgery March 13th. My pain is still progressing but my surgeon feels it may be the painful process of the syrinx collapsing. I try to be positive and remind myself that it’s early and my syrinx is massive. I know I face shunt surgery if the syrinx hasn’t significantly cleared up in 1 year. I aaso fear the possibility that my pain may be permanant. I’m in the " wait and watch" phase. I’m not as relieved as I thought I would be to have the surgery behind me. The good news is that as terrified as I was, the surgery really wasn’t that bad! feel free to message me if you want to chat. Warmest wishes - Tracy Jessica PS. .I failed to mention my symptoms. .migraines and headaches for so many years but was diagnosed when I developed severe arm and neck pain on left side. Hyper sensitivity to hot and cold. Numb skin. Fatigue. Short term memory loss.

Thank you all :)
