Symptoms after surgery ... Looking for someone that may have similar issues?

I had decompression surgery last December. My recovery was rough partly because I overdid it too soon after surgery. Anyways, my headaches got better pretty quickly after surgery and I started feeling better overall. Until recently I was pretty happy with my results and was so hopeful that my syrinx and symptoms would lessen. However; a few weeks ago I started having worsened symptoms. My chief complaint is that my left side is numb and tingly. It is so very annoying. It is all the time from my ear to my toes, but it gets worse when I am sitting or laying down. I had this symptom prior to surgery, but it wasn’t quite this bad. Also, it was like it just came back hard. I had only had a little numbness and tingling since my surgery, but then one day a couple weeks ago bam!! Has anyone else had anything similar to this happen?

Hi, Mrs. B.

How’re you doing? Have your symptoms dissipated? I have read of others here whose symptoms have partially returned after surgery. If you haven’t yet, you may want to follow-up with your neurosurgeon and/or neurologist. It’s always good to do so when symptoms arise.

Hopefully, others here can share experiences as well.

Best,

Laurie

Have your doctor check the occipital nerves they can cause Chiari like symptoms . My son thought he had a relapse and it was tension on the occipital nerve and he's been getting relief with nerve blocks. however if the occipital nerves continue to cause problems surgery will be required to relieve the tension on those nerves.
