I have been reading and am so shocked at how differantly each case is.This morning it was headache and severe nausea to a point of hot hot sweating then chills this happens alot.It is occompanied with a severe nausea feeling.I will vomit at times Sometimes it takes hrs to stop.I sit in frount of the heater and Im freezing to death drying myself at the same time.Has that happened to you. When the operation is over dose it help with the blurred double vision.Do you carry a flu like feeling under your skin and it never gose away.If there is only a 50% chance that I might not or get better.I'm doing it If it dont work I tried. From what I hear.I got nothing to lose. This could lead to parilalisis.Sooo.I jump around in my conversation and tend to forget I have already writtin that .Memory is soooo bad.I'm glad she said yes.I want to at least try to be a 50% mine was a success.I pray it will be Good luck and God bless you all

I am SOOOO sorry you are feeling like this! I get like that when I have severe headaches or migraines too. Regarding the "flu like symptoms".....I have been feeling like that all week. I start to wonder am I getting sick, is it my allergies, is it just the exhaustion from chronic daily headaches? After awhile I get tired of guessing and just have to deal with it and know it will go away eventually.
Blurred vision...have you seen an Ophthamologist to have your optic nerves checked? I think the blurred vision thing depends on if the Chiari has caused a bent optic nerve perhaps or if it something else. I still have vision issues, but i have problems with my optic nerves.
Remember, surgery is a treatment not a cure (Chiarians favorite tid-bit of info). I still have symptoms ten years post op, but don't regret my decision to have surgery. I won't go into details of my journey here (you can read my Bio), but we are all here to help you through this!
XOXOXO Monique
Sorry to hear you are struggling. I have suffered with all of the symptoms you have mentioned. I am 6 years post-op. There are so many variables with Chiari. The decision to have/not have surgery is usually determined by things like CSF flow or pressure on your spinal cord/brain stem. But surgery isn't always the magic bullet for symptom alleviation. I don't regret my decision to have surgery but I still have plenty of symptoms to worry about.
For me the flu like symptoms are sometimes the result of my overdoing it, sometimes not. I also have blurred vision, visual disturbance and too many floaters. My optic nerves are fine but I do wear glasses/contacts bc I am near sighted. Neither my neurologist nor my ophthalmologist can explain my symptoms.
Many times having Chiari becomes a practice in managing symptoms. Unfortunately, the symptoms and treatments are so varied. It really is about finding out what works for you be it western medicine, eastern therapies, holistic treatments or religious practices.
Best of luck on your journey to your best health. Keep us updated.
