Hi, I've been lurking and learning for a few weeks. I have had some episodes that I thought might be TIAs in the last couple of months so the last one I went in to my Dr. and she sent me for a brain mri and mr angiogram. My arteries are fine and she said I have Chiari and she's not really worried about a stroke and that she thinks my symptoms are from the chiari. I also had high blood pressure so I am on meds for that. Since starting them my headaches have been better actually, not totally gone but better. I have a ns appt. on Thursday this week. I have a lot of symptoms and the diagnosis explains a lot. So here are a few questions I have for anyone that can comment.
I have some concerns about EDS. Never diagnosed, but one of my sisters got her med records a few years ago and there was a note in them that said poss. EDS. No one ever pursued that. I also have 2 sisters with prolapsed mitral valve, one with a uterine prolapse, this one also died at 48 from an aneurysm (brain). Do ns just test for this? I am not really hyper flexible or anything. My joints pop alot even when I was a kid my knees were very poppy. But ive never had dislocations or anything. My skin may be stretchy? Ive had 4 kids and not one stretch mark (is that what that means?)
I went on a ride at the fair with my teen daughter in Aug. and when the ride went backwards I could not hold my head still. I felt like a bobble head. That was weird, never had that before.
Also do ns just check for sleep apnea? I have had 3 episodes since spring where I am dreaming I am underwater and cant breathe and wake up as I'm gasping in a breath. (kinda scary)
I have had alot of questions but at the moment that is all I can think of.
I am really happy to have this forum. I felt pretty lost finding out I had this. I appreciate any input. : )
