hi all

well i had an MRI today,

for head/neck/full spine, the guy told me about 35mins that it would take,

well about 10mins into it, the machine crashed, i waited for it to go again aand waited, he told me though the speaker that it willl take a while, so i waited, eventually he pulled me out and just told me to lie there waiting for the machine, with that it was going to take about 15min, nothing on under a gown at 6pm, then he came back and sait we are all set, so 1hr later, i finally got out,,,,

ive had enough of being in those horrible cold noisy machines,

but atleast the guy, told me there wasnt anything ovious that he could see, hahahahahah

but then said the radiologist will read first thing in the morning, so i hope there is something there,

ive had the day from hell with my body, weak, pressure in my head, headaches, breathing problems, felt like my pulse was spiking,

i was hoping that increased pressure would of shown, im very disappointed.

I asked for a copy to be sent to me aswell so i could read it,

maybe this guy didnt know alot about results

ok well anyway i went and saw surgeon about my gallbladder and weather the chest pains im getting is from that or, my head,

he told me that my pain is not typical of gall bladder, but unsure weather it is, so we should get it taken out, with the cost of $8000.00 no wonder he wanted it out,

so im going to wait for NS to say weather it is or not,

i did research today about chest pain, and it matched with chiari, so im unsure if ahving my allbladder taken it, and then still have pain,

sorry for so long, long tiring day,need to go to bed

i have had no decompression surgery or anything on any level to do with the brain, im hoping that my MRIs would show something for them to finally operated,

its taken 2yrs just to get looked at again, and taken seriously

sorry its taken me so long to reply, i was unable to get on this site, very sad and lonely the last couple of days

im day not too bad, started exercising, eating plan, even did house work, lol im impressed with myself

Joelene, you are having chest pain that is attributed to your gallbladder? Are you having other symptoms? I ask because I am having GI problems now. Not sure if stress related or connected to Chiari?

the doctors are unsure weather its caused by gallbladder, my gallbladder lining wasnt thickened so dosnt show it was,

my Mri just came back with a cyst on my thoracic spine, the thoracic also effects chest area,
Syringomyelia is another name for a spinal cyst, and its high on my spine,

i have also read that you can get a band like pain around your chest to your back which is related to chiari malformation, have you had a MRI of late to check things out?

i go see neurosurgeon on the 15th, so we will see how it goes, im hoping something will get done, it causing alot of pain, its my second one,

i had T7 T8 T9 removed, cyst taken out by microsurgery, T7 T8 T9 put back and screwed into place with rods,
i had to lay on my back for 4days so i wouldnt have CSF leak, once i was up, therapy had to help me walk and get up steps. i spent 12days in hospital, took 8wks until i was allowed to slowly lift my kids, one was a yr old.
i lost alot of weight, and felt sickly, it took along time to learn to use my back, i still have trouble at times, like washing dishes, and folding washing

its been rough but i have gotten though it i can do it again,
but come on two, what are they thinking, if they just decompressed, it would stop it, even for a time being,

im quite angry now, maybe itss time i go over seas and get better answers, im unsure weather NewZealand has any chiari specialists, i will search and see if i can, or i might have to try australia

Joelene: I just relied on the spinal cyst thread you started…sorry…you just answered a few of the question I had on this thread!!!

I can see why you are angry about not being decompressed in the 1st place.

How long a plane ride is it to Australia??? Is that a possibility?? I know , for me, anyway, $$$ is always an issue these days!!!

If this can help in anyway, i just want to share this: decompression surgery …from a technical stand point is a very easy operation…I watched one on WebCast…and at the VERY END …the surgeon actually stated that…and get this…My own surgeon told me the exact thing…“I am taking a piece of bone from your skull, opening the dura, putting a patch in its place, replacing the skull bone with another patch and sewing you up…your neck fusion was much riskier” I wish he hadn’t had said the last part about the fusion because I ended up needing another fusion this past april…and those words rang in my ears!!! But all went well AGAIN!!!

lori… australia is about a 4hrs away
the surgery talk sounds interesting. must do that,
my appointment is next week friday, scarey
im very short tembered at the moment,
and soo tired

I absolutely hate MRI’s I think its because the noises and im claustrophobic. When I get my MRI’s done I go to A.I DuPont Hospital because that is about 10 minutes away from my house. I bring some headphones and my favorite CD to help me relax. Eventually, I fall asleep. :slight_smile:

Joelene, my last MRI was over 2 years ago. I have not been back to neuro doc since I was diagnosed.

shelia you should get rechecked, it should be done yrly.

sorry a cysts another name is syrinx i mustnt get the wrong.

are you having more problems?
