I have noticed that many other suffer with shoulder pain. I have been suffering sever shoulder pain for the last 7 years. Could this be connected to my Chiari? I am have decompression surgery on June 17, will it help relive any of my shoulder pain? If any one else has had this problem I could use all the advise as possible.
I did have bad pain in my right shoulder. I believe it was actually radiating from my neck. I think it was possibly chiari related because it's very much improved post-op. I still have twinges now and then but not the non-stop pain I had before.
Will do Nykki! I know your having troubles with your doctors. Don't give up!
Thanks for the information Anglyn, I hope I see a difference.
Hi DannieRae. I’m curious where exactly your pain is located? Mine is in between my shoulder blades. Sometimes the stabbing, excruciating pain lasts for several weeks before I get a break.

Mine is in my joint, I have it in both arms but my left hurts so much worse and it goes numb daily. I know it is nerve pain because it burns. It also has a dull acting pain too.
Hello DannieRae! I also have shoulder pain and it is due to the chiari. It has something to do with the nerves. My shoulder pain is on the right side mostly. Because we are all different I’m not sure if surgery will relive your shoulder pain but I sure hope it will. I haven’t had decompression surgery yet but have my preop appt this Tuesday and will be scheduled after that. I do pray that this shoulder pain is one of the many symptoms that will get relieved! One thing to keep in mind that helped me is if you carry a purse make sure it’s a small one and it’s light. That has helped my a lot I didn’t even realize how heavy my purse was until my Dr. Pointed it out and said I have to down size lol! Also a heating pad feels really good. Some people use ice packs but the heat works for me. I wish you the best with your upcoming surgery let use know how you are doing take care!
