I have had fornightly (or thereabouts) attacks of severe weakness, violent vomiting 36hrs straight and a strong desire to lay flat since the end of February. I got sick of the Dr saying I had migrane & went & had an MRI. I have a Chiari 1 (almost crying again...). So, Dr said urgent appointment to Neurosurgeon - urgent as a public patient in Australia - don't know how long this will be...
In the mean time, what should I do about the vomiting? It is NOT controlled by antiemetics - all my nurse colleagues try to suggest I take these... Any ideas? Is this a cycle because my head is becoming compressed with CSF? Do diuretics help? I am about willing to try anything!!
Apologies for using jargon!!! I will get used to being a new member, soon.
Antiemetics are the anti vomiting tablets. They dont work when I have these attacks - I think like pain killers - they dont work when I have my head lumps (my version of headaches).
Diuretics help to make the body expel out fluid - would that reduce my brain pressure?
Sorry you are so sick. Probably headaches are causing the nausea & vomiting You should go to the ER if you have been this ill this long. It's very dangerous. Please at least call your Dr.
