I had to have a cerebral shunt put in after decompression surgery in 2008. Where the tube runs down the side of my head, behind my right ear, the tube has been really sore. A few days ago I started having these "twinges" run from just below the shunt to my neck. Kind of feels like when you put your tongue on a battery, but it only lasts for about half a second. I no longer have insurance, so I don't have the funds to go back to my NS. Just wondering if anyone else had this happen to them.
I havent read a whole lot about shunts. My advice is to contact a dr. I know you dont have insurance but I'm almost certain some kind of government program has to exist to give you aid. Can anyone expand on this?
Thank you Susan for your input. Looks like we had a lot of the same complications. This pain has been going on for a couple of weeks. The soreness I could handle, but these little "shocks" are getting painful. There's a hospital in Atlanta that has a free clinic. I think I may go down and check into it. I'm trying to get on disability, but it's taking forever. I have been trying to work part time, but that's a struggle. Are you still working as a teacher?
Thank you Montie for you input. I think I'm going to try to get to Atlanta and go get checked at the free clinic. Normally I'm not one to do that, but this pain is getting annoying. Thanks again for your comment.
