After having my op today (I'm very proud of myself by the way) I'm in immense pain...understandably. However I'm being well looked after by the hospital with my very own morphine pump! I wanted to start this discussion as I need some help with answering some questions. Firstly, how did everyone who has gone through the operation deal with the itchiness? Secondly, is it normal to be really shaky and have a few panic attacks? Thirdly, how did everyone stay calm? Lastly, is there anyway to lessen the pain after coughing, if there is please let me know as soon as possible.
We are proud of you too and hope you have a swift recovery.
It's still early days and I'm not surprised that you feel a bit shaky. Even just the effects of a general anaesthetic should not be underestimated .... and that is before your body and mind have to deal with the enormity of the procedure you've just been through. I wonder if you might find it helpful to listen to some Mindfulness Meditations ... this is a useful site with free meditations in the Resources section.
I'd ask your doctors advice on the itching and coughing this soon after surgery.
Wish you a full and speedy recovery.
