Since we tend to hear about so many negative stories, I wanted to give a positive update on my 5yr.old granddaughter who had her decompression surgery on Nov. 6th, 2012 at the Cleveland Clinic by a wonderful, caring NS, Dr. Violette Recinos. She just had her 6 month MRI and the results were amazing! She had a 16mm descent with severe crowding and a tiny thoracic syrinx pre-operatively, and now her brain looks completely normal! Her cerebellum looks nicely rounded and in its proper position with absolutely no tonsillar descent. She does have a small remnant of her syrinx, but Dr says it is of no concern and may just always be there. And as of now, she has absolutely no restrictions and can even returned to gymnastics, which is her favorite activity. I just wanted everyone to know that there are great NS out there who do make miracles happen with their gifted hands and their talent.
