No one will accept my insurance, help?

I don't know if you all go through the same thing but I have not been able to find one neurosurgeon who is willing to take my insurance! I had my neurologist convince one but in return they just saw me, re diagnosed me with the same thing I was already told and then told there was nothing they could do. I am starting to get frustrated because at this point Chiari is running my life! I went through the recommended doctors list and called a bunch near me but no luck so I found someone in Chicago (somewhat close to me) who was willing to call my insurance and try and work something out but it's by no means a sure thing so I'm just hoping at this point. My insurance has said no to things in the past so I'm unsure of what the response will be! If any of you have gone through this and can give me some advice I would really appreciate it. I cannot afford to travel far, I have 3 children and no one who can care for them long enough for me to travel and taking them all with me is not an option for me!

Which insurance company, Glenda?

I have state insurance, here in Wisconsin they call it badgercare. I believe in other places it's just called Medicaid, so I guess I should have known it would be difficult just never imagined HOW difficult!

Glenda,

I live in WI too. Does the UW Hospital in Madison take Badgercare? That would be horrible if they didn't. I know that they are not Chiari specialists, but if you just can't find a specialist that will take your insurance, they are a good backup as a very highly rated general Neurosurgery department. Have you tried them?

I just want to magically find an answer for you to make your life easier!

Donna :)

I will definitely look into that, so far I have had no luck because no one wants to take Medicaid. I appreciate your kind words, I'm getting extremely desperate because my boys saw me fall yesterday and got really frightened!

Really? Wow, I didn't know Dr. Dempsey specialised in Chiari, I'm definitely contacting the UW Hospital!

Donna is correct about the UW Hospital in Madison. I have the same insurance as you do Glenda and when my NL in Beloit referred me to Dr Dempsey a NS at the UW Hospital they took me no questions asked. I wish you the best of Luck :)

We had to change insurance to get coverage. I don’t know if this is a possibility for you or not. Dr. Frim in Chicago is in network for our new Cigna plan.
