I am new to the group. I had Chiari decompression surgery and a shunt surgery in December 2015. I am 43 and am still having some dizziness and pain in the back of my head. Is this normal?
I can’t keep missing work.

Welcome to the group. I hope that you find the answers and support that you seek.
In regards to your question, yes it is normal for both of them, but you do not have live with it! There are steps that you can take for both of them if you are interests in putting in a bit of work - sorry - no quick fixes for either.
For the dizziness please read my post listed in the "Chiari information for members" on dizziness. Those exercises work wonderfully if you indeed have primitive reflexes that are contributing to your dizziness. Ask me any questions and let me know how they work out.
About the pain in the back of your head, I should not have been so hasty to say it can be cured. Is it pain along the incision, when does it happen? Perhaps I could comment with more information.
Again, welcome and may your recovery continue to resolve
The pain is where the decompression was. I will look at the blog.
Thanks
Sorry, missed your posting. If the pain is on the incision, there are lots of scar management, desensitization, and reduction of central sensitization exercises that you can do if you are interested. There is no time limit on when they work and they can be done anytime after incisional healing. Again, they require a strategy and a time commitment but are relatively easy if a bit monotonous to do!
