My Journey: There and Back

I’d just like to give a general update on the whole Chiari ordeal.

My MRI was March 24, and on March 30th, my PCP finally called back. The news? I officially have Chiari. He’s referred me to a neurosurgery clinic at Arkansas Children’s Hospital–of course, that’s been almost a month ago. No word from them, whatsoever, which is odd.

The herniation is only 8mm. He also said that in certain cuts, it really looked like my medulla was hanging out, too. He also stated that the radiologist said that a syrinx seemed to be present from C2/C3-T1. However, he said that he wasn’t totally certain, and that I’d need to get a second opinion.

I’ve been having many a problem with balance lately. More so than usual, in fact. It’s getting harder to walk now.

In other news… I do have an appointment with ACH on May 11th with the Connective Tissue Clinic. I am hoping they can offer some insight. If not, then I am hoping we can make a treatment plan for my other symptoms.
