Mri for Chiari

Hi;

I had a failed Lumbar infusion study on 4-23. Dr. was going to put drain in to see if my symptoms decreased but decided to do MRI 1st.

I got a call from his secretary and she told me he ordered a Chiari Protocol MRI,

I just received email confirmation from facility and the description says.

GCM MRI of Cervical Spine- Don't want to call and ask questions before I put out question here.

Can anyone tell me if this is the same as a CINE MRI? So looking forward to getting some results and answers for all these symptoms. Want to make sure that someone else know what this is. I trust my surgeon, he is very experienced but never heard this terminology. Any info would be great.

Thanks all;

Lily

Lily, usually a cine is done with a brain study, not a c-spine. I’m not sure what the GCM means- unless that’s the name of the MRI facility??? I just googled it and only came up with GCM as the name of radiology sites around the US.

I actually just got a call from my Insurance company telling me that it was approved. It is for the Brain, C spine and T spine and is still called a GCM MRI. I .assume this is a CINE MRI, anyone ever heard of it called this?
