Mri dye

Is anyone concerned about the dye vs your kidneys? In the beginning I the first year and half I had 3 MRI's with dye contrast.

I haven't had any reactions to any of the dyes and I have an allergy to shellfish which could trigger an allergy. My father had reactions to the dyes during CAT scans and MRIs. The tech and radiologist were able to find a dye that worked with the same result and did not give mu father anymore trouble. I will be talking to my stepmother later to find out which dye he was allergic to and what worked for him.

Take care

I have at least 1 MRI (with contrast) a year to watch a brain tumor I have had for years. I just make sure I drink plenty of water the day of and for the following 2 days i drink 3 liters to a gallon of water to flush everything out (which they always tell you to drink oa toin afterwards anyway). I have a history of kidney stones, but no other kidney issues.

Good luck! Monique :o)

THANKS ALL!!! I did find out that I'm allergic to the cat scan dye. My face broke out in hives. (That was painful). I just feel weird when they use the dye and I try to explain it to them dr and they just say that I'm not allergic to it. Anyway the NS wanted to blood work done for a (creatitine) kidney test. Nobody ever told to drink lots of water. I will make I do that...THANKS!!!!!

Absolutely drink plenty of fluids after dye to flush out your kidneys and shame on the doctors and techs for not instructing you to do that! Another reason why this site is so important to all of us!
